Course Expectations: Mr. Matt Hynek Algebra I 1. Required Materials A. I-Pad B. Pencil C. Red Pen D. Notebook F. Loose-leaf paper 2. Classroom Policies and Procedures A. Be in your seat and ready to work by the time the bell finishes ringing. B. Treat everybody with respect and dignity. 3. Evaluation Grades A. Homework (about 20% of your grade) Homework will be collected and graded as follows: 1) Each assignment must be labeled clearly at the top of the page with your name, pages, and problem numbers. 2) State the original problem and then show work and diagrams, not just answers. Work should be from top to bottom, not side to side. 3) Check all answers in the back of the book. If correct, mark it with a ācā. If incorrect, mark it with a red āXā. No credit given if this is not done. 4) A pencil must be used. All homework should be done on looseleaf paper, graphs must be done on graph paper. 5) Be neat, mistakes should be erased, not crossed out or written over. 6) Keep up with daily assignments to prevent getting lost, behind, frustrated, depressed and/or anxious. 7) Late homework is not accepted for any credit. Homework must be completed by the beginning of class. B. Tests/Quizzes (about 80% of your grade) Tests and quizzes cover the material covered in the class notes and homework. All tests and quizzes will be announced at least two days in advance. 5. Attendance / Absence A. Homework missed from an absence should be turned in the day you return to class. B. Tests- Make up a missed test as soon as possible during a free period or study hall. 6. Keys to Success in this Class A. TRY! B. Complete all homework on time. C. Limit your number of absences if possible. D. Ask questions and come in for extra help if necessary. 7. Teacher Availability If you ever need extra help let me know. The math lab is open from 8:00-3:30 everyday. I can also help you before or after school. In the morning I am in my homeroom (Room 241) by 7:35.
